( What goes wrong on Webflow )

Head code runs in the order you paste it

Webflow gives you one box for head code, and whatever sits at the top runs first. Most sites end up with Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel above the consent script, which means the tracking has already happened by the time anybody sees a banner. Ours has to be the first line in that box, and the instructions below say so rather than leaving you to find out from a scan.

Usually found on Webflow sites
  • Google Analytics via the Integrations panel
  • Meta Pixel in Head code
  • YouTube and Vimeo embeds
  • Google Fonts, which is a data transfer under GDPR
( Proof, not promises )

You can see exactly what was stopped

This is a real request waterfall from a scanned site. Every row marked HELD is a request that did not leave the browser until somebody chose.

( Installing )

Four steps, and the first line of the box

Site settings → Custom code → Head code
  1. 1Open your project, then Site settings, not Page settings.
  2. 2Custom code → Head code.
  3. 3Paste the line at the very top of the box, above anything already there.
  4. 4Save, then Publish. Custom code appears in preview but only goes live on publish.
Worth knowing

Needs a paid Site plan. On the free Starter plan the field exists but the code never publishes.

Once it is in, scan the site again. The scan reads the page the way a browser does, so it tells you what is still reaching the network before consent rather than what should be.

( Webflow questions )

Does this work on the free Starter plan?

No, and that is Webflow rather than us. Custom code needs a paid Site plan; on Starter the field exists but nothing you put in it publishes.

Do I need to republish?

Yes. Custom code shows up in preview immediately but only reaches visitors when you publish.

What about the Webflow analytics integration?

Anything Webflow injects for you is third party the moment it leaves the page, so it is held like everything else until somebody agrees.

$10 a site. No asterisks.

Unlimited pages, unlimited visitors, 24 months of consent records in the EU. Less per site as you add more, which is how agencies actually buy this.
